Dr. Doug Klein
Board Member

Dr. Doug Klein has been involved in multiple health promotion activities in the community including neighbourhoods, community schools, and primary care. Dr. Klein has also been invited to give presentations worldwide on how to transform primary care settings to support nutrition and exercise interventions. Other topics of interest include teaching methods in primary care, the Doctor-Patient Relationship, Electronic Medical Records and Continuing Medical Education.

Amanda Radil
Research Associate

Amanda Radil, Ph.D works in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Amanda is interested in motivation and emotions in learning, athletic, and health environments, with a goal of helping people live healthy lives. In her down time, she enjoys practising yoga, reading good books, and enjoying the outdoors.

Dr. Clark Svrcek
Board Member

Dr. Clark Svrcek is a family physician in Calgary, Alberta and a clinical lecturer at the University of Calgary. Dr. Svrcek has strong interests in the health benefits of nature, the built environment, and active, healthy communities. When he's not working you can find him (or not) out in nature with his family, playing music, or desperately trying to organize thousands of digital photos.

Charice Wen
Community Coordinator

Charice is a Registered Dietitian and the CHCP Community Coordinator for Edmonton. She is passionate about connecting families to local assets and resources, creating a supportive community and exploring creative ways to lead healthy lives. Outside of work, Charice is a competitive ballroom dancer and enjoys trying new recipes.

Jeanette Pierce
Community Coordinator

Janette Pierce is a Recreation Therapist certified in Early Childhood Education. She has been living in Spruce Grove, Alberta, for the past 25 years. Janette is passionate about bringing awareness to the importance of physical activity, nutrition, mental health, and social connection in our community through Change Health. In the past, Janette has taught Red Cross-certified swimming lessons, preschool education, and managed seniors' home recreation departments. Janette understands every person has a unique health journey and the importance of designing programs, activities, and curricula based on those needs to reach their goals.

Karyn Sunohara
Community Coordinator

Karyn is a Registered Dietitian and the CHCP Community Coordinator in Calgary. Her dream is to share her love for food, nutrition and cultures in a hands on and interactive way. She believes that if you read something, you may remember it for a while, but if you do something, you’ll remember it for a lifetime! Karyn is also a trained chef and develops many of the CHCP's fantastic recipes. Karyn is currently on maternity leave.

Dr. Sean Lessard
Board Member

Dr. Sean Lessard is Woodland Cree and is from Montreal Lake Cree Nation in Northern Saskatchewan Treaty 6 territory. Sean is a former youth worker, teacher and high school guidance counsellor. He is known for his research alongside Indigenous youth and communities in the development of innovative educational programming and in particular Indigenous youth empowerment, leadership, and wellness. Dr. Sean Lessard currently is an Associate Professor Secondary Education at the University of Alberta, in Indigenous Education and Teacher Education.

Dr. Darren Nichols
Board Member

Dr. Nichols is a Family Medicine Emergency physician. He is a previous ultramarathoner and passionate about healthy families and communities. He is interested in socially accountable medical education and health care.

Ron Kryzanowski
Board Member

Ron is a Human Resources professional with over 30 years of experience as a key member of senior decision making and leadership teams within various industries having a significant impact on business direction and results. Ron currently holds the Sr AVP, Total Rewards, Benefits & Payroll role at Canadian Western Bank, an Edmonton-based financial institution. He is a collaborative leader who values building relationships across all levels within complex organizations. Ron provides mentorship, guidance and operational leadership to multidimensional teams. Ron has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan and is a member of CPHR Alberta.

Ron enjoys being in nature, jogging and cycling in the Edmonton river valley, and hiking in the mountains. He has a personal passion for physical and mental health and wellbeing, leading an active lifestyle and promoting the benefits of being in nature within the community.
